The Night: Sonnet

The devil’s mistress in a black dress

Floating over the clouds and the earth

Heaven knows this is no mere mistress

Overthrows the light, brings the day’s death

Her gown flows to bury the sun

And gives us the new light of darkness

The firefly and the octodon

The koala and bat hail you highness

You guide and shield the evil-doer

While they do the wish of your spouse

Seconds of innocence get fewer

As evil and the earth exchange vows

When the dead rises from his sky-grave

You flee and hide under your drapes
