THE BATTOSAI: RANDOM SLASHES

BATTOSAI

I want to say welcome to this new semester. Well, I must confess it has been so long since you heard from the Battosai. Even some of you don’t even know me.

Well my name is Feng and I am from the second generation of the clan. Most people call us destroyers, but it’s not our fault, we believe it best we say the truth, no matter whose horn is gored.

Well, this week, I would be talking about so many things. So, I hope you enjoy your ride.

Uncovered University of Ibadan underground cables (THE OBITUARY)

It is no news that underground cables are death traps in University of Ibadan. Especially, if you go to Anatomy Department area, you would see large deeps (don’t be fooled, they are not gutters). They house so called ‘UNDERGROUND CABLES’.

I want to say RIP to the wonderful girl that lost her life due to the negligence of our school authority. The question I ask myself is- What is the maintenance department doing? This is clarion call to the powers that be in the University of Ibadan. We don’t want another death due to the negligence of duty of the Maintenance Department.

Boko haram’s ceasefire- the unreal tournament

I was going through the papers on Thursday and I saw news about the Boko Haram sect, agreeing to cease fire. In my mind, I felt it was just a ‘Greek gift’. I wasn’t surprised when I heard of their recent attack on Saturday killing about 18 people. I feel GEJ should stop fooling us. Boko Haram has come to stay. I feel right now we should be looking at how to cut their supplies. Let’s go back to the era of Biafra. Just starve them and see the wonderful effect of hunger to the body system.

Tributes to my dear friend Sanda Taiwo

Little are words,

Little are tears.

Little are my tears to wonder stone,

I wish the gate of Hades where left shut on that faithful day,

I wish the death angel was on a holiday to the Bahamas,

I wish your name never appeared in his list,

I wish that horrible sickness didn’t take you away.

Now, it is a year,

But I still miss you like yesterday.

I know you have gone to prepare the way,

Because I saw you riding on the chariot of fire-

Towards heaven

Till the day we meet again,

I will always pray for you.

Sleep tight, my friend.

Where are our cookers?

Going through all halls of residence in UI, it is a known fact that the cookers are all bad. The school management gave us a cap and took our head. They have refused to repair our cookers and have refused us using hot plates. Please Mr. VC, we need our cookers in good conditions. God bless you sir as you do so.

Wake up Students Union, Students Union wake up

Mr. President, I can remember vividly your speech on the day of your inauguration. It was loaded and promising. For the first, I felt the union could bring that change people wanted. But right now, I’m beginning to think that your speech was written for you. Even, if that happens to be the case, please try to go back to that speech. Right now, I feel you are just basking in the comfort of the office. I know the Air Conditioner is good, but please remember- it is not all about the office, but the service you promised.

Well, I feel I need to rest my sword this week.

Join me next week for another edition of THE BATTOSAI.

Till then, I say Sayonara
