SULTAN BELLO HALL HOLDS HER MANIFESTO FOR ASPIRANTS

On Friday, November 18, 2016, the hall of noblemen was lit with the political torch of manifestos from aspirants vying for several political positions within the jurisdiction of the hall. The programme took place at the Sultan Bello hall pitch at about some few minutes after 5 o’clock and it witnessed the attendance of mostly residence of the hostel.

The programme kick started with the two aspirants vying for the position of health minister trying to impress the crowd and also giving several reasons why each one is better than his opponent. Other aspirants for the post of sports minister, defense minister, information and propaganda minister, finance minister, secretary of states, deputy mayor and executive mayor did the same.

The atmosphere of the manifesto night was filled with expectations. Each aspirant was faced with several questions from fellow bellites who had been tentative to their plans. One of the sports minister aspirant by the name of Yinkus was held on the issue of providing wall clock to time football matches in the hall. Another agitated bellite asked about the plans they had for remedying the water logged pitch when it rains. Many of the aspirants were faced with the questions pertaining finance. One of the attendees said, ‘if you cannot source for funds, you are as good as dead. You are a gunner’.

During the course of the programme, there were times when aspirants faulted on stage. One of the aspirant for health minister was lambasted for not dressing up to par. An agitated bellite said, ‘is this how you will approach high profile people?’. The occasion also witnessed some grammatical blunders. One of the aspirants for secretary of state said, ‘I am a leader, I am not a dictatorship’. This drew a wild cry from the crowd in disapproval.

The night ended with the aspirants of executive hall mayor in person of Daramola Sope and Akinsanya Damilola outlining their plans. Mr Sope also known as rainbow based his manifesto on what he termed ‘the eagle project’. He said it is a project that deals with human development and rebranding the hall. Likewise, Mr Damilola also known as damzy termed his plans ‘nobility beyond borders’. He grossed on the issue of welfare for all bellites.
