The Sigma Sports Festival served up plenty of action across the men’s fixtures, from emphatic wins to narrow escapes including defending champions SFA Male advancing in dramatic fashion after their rain-delayed clash. Matchday 1 featured 16 teams battling it out within 3 days from Wednesday 17th September to Friday 19th September in the competition’s first knockout round.
Here’s how things went down:
Clippers FC Edge Tech Road
Clippers FC claimed a 2–1 victory over Tech Road FC, with Ayodeji and Anthony finding the net. Abdul Haq scored Tech Road’s consolation.
Blaze FC Fight Back
After Olamigoke’s opener for Da-Ebs, Blaze FC turned the tie around through Emmanuel and Obot Idongesit to win 2–1.
Galacticos Squeeze Through
Abideen Victor’s lone strike was enough for Galacticos FC to seal a 1–0 win over Blue Wave FC.
Forza Outclass Volterra
Forza FC put on a commanding performance, sweeping aside Volterra FC 3–0 with Jamiu’s brace and Frank’s finish.
Elite XI Grind Out Win
Adepoju Emmanuel’s well-taken goal, assisted by Ebenezer, secured a tight 1–0 victory for Elite XI FC over Epic Alliance.
Vipers Advance on Technicality
Despite United Superstars’ 2-0 victory, they were disqualified for fielding an ineligible player, handing Vipers FC automatic progression to the quarter-finals.
TomTom Too Strong
Despite the heavy downpour, TomTom FC dispatched Blue Lock FC 3–1, with Akinpade scoring twice, Heskeyman adding one, and Blue Lock benefitting only from a Kante own goal.
Rain-Delayed Clash: SFA Male vs Rebels
The highly anticipated meeting between SFA Male and Rebels FC, postponed due to heavy rain, was eventually played the following day. After a tense goalless encounter, the game was decided on penalties. Rebels failed to convert any of their spot-kicks, while SFA Male held their nerve to score and move into the next round.
The next round of matches in the football category of the ongoing Sigma Sports Festival would hold on Sunday 21st September 2025 at the Old SUB pitch.
