Sigma Club has unveiled a new set of executive officers to lead its affairs for the new academic session with Eniola Moses, a 400-level student of Linguistics emerging as the new chief.
In a statement made available to UCJUI on Monday, the club noted that a duly conducted election led to the emergence of the new chief and other executives.
Aside from the chief, other executives includes; Adesoji Ezekiel, a 400-level student of Communication and Language Arts, who is the Sigma Deputy Chief, Abiola Joshua, a 200-level student of Vet Medicine, who is the Sigma Chief Scribe, Ogbonna Prince, a 300-level student of Physiology , who is the Sigma Deputy Scribe.
Others are: Ayodeji Timothy, a 400-level student of Religious Studies, who is the Sigma Financial Scribe, Ibosiola Oluwatobi, a 300-level student of Agricultural Economics, who is the Sigma Treasurer, Fadipe Oluwaferanmi, a 300-level student of Dental Surgery, who is the Chairman, Publicity Committee, Akparanta Simeon, a 200-level student of Music, who is the Chairman, Security Committee and Adeoye Obafemi, a 400-L student of Law, who is the Chairman, Investment and Special Duties Committee.
“The Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, is a socio-philanthropic students’ organization with considerable focus on character, discipline, integrity and national development. Founded in 1950 by male undergraduates, it is by implication the oldest surviving students’ organization in Sub-Saharan Africa
“As regards Sigma Philanthropic objectives, Sigma Club has given back to the society at so many times and in various forms. Beneficiaries of this objective include but not limited to the following: Cocoa House Ibadan, during its recorded fire incidence, Alanu Fund U.C.H Ibadan, Oluyole Chesire Home, The University of Ibadan Health Clinic and the Indigent Students who benefited from the Sigma Scholarship refered to as Sigma Scholars.
“In the last Sigma year, Sigma Club recorded a lot of notable and remarkable achievements which includes: 2022 Roseline Etuokwu Sigma Secondary School Quiz competition ( Oyo State), Sigma Health Outreach, SIGMA CHIEF’S Cup, 2023 Roseline Etuokwu Sigma Secondary School Quiz Competition (Southwest Region) Sigma Scholarship Scheme amongst others.
“In the light of this, we are informing the University community to anticipate great Events from Sigma Club in this Sigma Year some of which are Sigma Guest Luncheon and Induction of Sir Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu (OON, CON, CFR, KJW, FISM, FNIJ, FAmedS, Odole-Oodua of the Source), Roseline Etuokwu Sigma Secondary School Quiz Competition (Nationwide) Sigma Scholarship Scheme, and more to come,” the statement reads.
