SIGMA CLUB DECLARES APPLICATION FOR HER ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR 2018/2019 OPEN

Sigma Club, the renowned socio-philanthropic students’ organisation in the University of Ibadan has declared open the application for her Annual Scholarship Scheme for 2018/2019 academic session. Application is open to all female and male Undergraduates of the University of Ibadan. This was made known by the Club in a press conference that held on Tuesday, 26th February, 2019 in the Kuti Hall Senior Common Room.

The Club known for her philanthropic activities revealed through the Sigma Chief, Mr Valentine Igbonekwu that the scholarship scheme is in place to help indigent but diligent students of the University of Ibadan in term of their financial needs. The scheme which started as far back as 1986 kicked off the 2018/2019 edition on the 26th of February 2019. According to the Sigma Chief, application for the scholarship scheme ends 10th March, 2019 at 11:59pm.

Applicants are expected to be first-year students of the University of Ibadan with a minimum grade point of 3.5. Interested students can scan and send their Student’s Identification Card, JAMB admission letter, 2017/2018 first semester transcript, also in Portable Document Format(PDF)- letter of recommendation from the Dean of Students and the Heads of  their Departments as well as a letter stating the reason why they should be awarded to sigmascholarshipscheme@gmail.com. However, applicants are not expected to be benefiting from any scholarship at the time of application.

According to the Sigma Chief at the press conference, the beneficiaries will be the top ten most qualified applicants. The successful applicants will be granted a sum of one hundred thousand naira each which will be sufficient for their school fees, accommodation fees and some other necessaries. He also relayed that the sum will be collected every session throughout their stay in the University. The Sigma Chief also stated that the award ceremony for the successful applicants will hold in the first week of April after a fair and due process.
