
Veterinary Medicine defeated Electrical Engineering 3-1 to knock out defending champions and tournament favorites, Philosophy on Wednesday, August 7.
The match which held at the SUB Pitch saw Vet Medicine dominates in the early stages of the game and combined well in attack to craft out goal scoring opportunities.
Hessy got on the score sheet in the early stages of the game when he was played in by Tolu to curl home Veterinary’s first goal of the evening.
Disaster struck for Veterinary Medicine in the first half when Orodin failed to handle the ball properly in his own box. An unrushing Electrical Engineering attacker stole the ball off the 400 level shot stopper to level the score for his team.
Following their equaliser, Electrical Engineering grew into the game and asked questions from the Veterinary Medicine backline. However, Hessy gave his team the lead again after pouncing on a failed attempt from Tolu.
Tolu’s second half goal from close range took the game beyond Electrical Engineering’s who sit rock bottom in group A.
Following Veterinary Medicine’s victory, they finish top of the group with 6 points while Statistics finish with a point less.
Defending champions have been surprisingly knocked out of the group with 4 points as Electrical Engineering finished last with 1 point.
