The Department of Industrial Petroleum Engineering, has today, 13th August 2024, defeated Mechanical Engineering at the SUB football pitch to qualify for yet another Seals cup quarter final.
The encounter was the fifth round of 16 tie of the competition and a repeat of last Saturday’s Gala cup final.
IPE’s Pamilerin had the first chance of the game when he shot wide off Mechanical Engineering’s goal. The reigning Gala cup champions IPE dominated the early proceedings, limiting their Faculty of Technology rivals to counter attacking opportunities.
IPE’s dominance finally paid off when tournament top scorer Paragon scored to take his Seals cup 2024 tally to 7.
The forward – who has now scored in every game of the tournament so far – moves just one behind Papi on the tournament’s all-time scorers chat with 13 goals.
IPE despite being ahead continued to probe for a second while Mechanical Engineering held their own. Mechanical Engineering’s hope of getting an equaliser was dashed when Plus tapped in from close range to score his team’s second of the game.
The 2-0 defeat at the hands of IPE condemns Mechanical Engineering to another defeat at the hands of their tech rivals after losing 1-0 in Saturday’s Gala Cup final.
