POEM: Wisdom

Abraham Favour Olohigbe

He calls out to us as we walk through the streets of life,

“Wait hear me out” he says.

He looks so elegantly dressed,

Like a prince that he is.

Most don’t give him any attention,

He speaks so eloquently and walks so elegantly,

Now it’s our turn as we meet him at crossroads.

Wisdom looks unto us eagerly and beckons unto us

He awaits our response,

A generation that knows him not,

But has heard a lot about him.

Wisdom beckons unto us to know and act like him,

A generation to which it seems has lost it’s direction.

Most keep moving, but some wait and listen to him.

As he talks about an ultimate end.

Wisdom is a friend to his listeners and an enemy to those who don’t listen,

Fools is what he calls the ones who turns a blind eye to him.

Listen to him while you have the time and take his suggestions seriously,

They’ll take you throughout your lifetime.

Wisdom as we all know saves many.
