Petroleum Engineering Clinch Third Place in Seals Cup Comeback Win

In what was a thrilling encounter at the old SUB pitch, the Department of Petroleum engineering edged past the department of Civil engineering 3-2 on penalties. In the early minutes into the first half, the civil engineering boys opened the scoreboard after Kudus from Petroleum engineering scored an own goal.

Five minutes after, without giving the oil and gas boys breathing space, Heskeyman converted a corner kick with a beautiful bicycle kick into the net. The petroleum engineering boys, after going down with two goals, began applying pressure on the final third of the civil engineering side of the field but could not do as much as to score a goal. The first half of the match ended with a 2-0 lead for the civil engineering boys.

In the second half, civil engineering boys continued asserting their dominance in the game at the early minutes, testing the defence and the goalkeeper of the petroleum side.

Petroleum engineering’s Joel did not waste his lone effort as he made no mistake finding the back of the net after dragging the civil engineering’s defence all on his own. The goal brought life to the oil and gas boys as they fired up their intensity in the game after the goal.

Both teams continued the intense and beautiful game of football, playing the ball to feed the eyes of the spectators.Petroleum engineering’s Ogbah David scored the second goal with a header converting a cross from Kudus. The goal was the last kick of the game as the final whistle was blown after the restart of the game.

The game ended in a 2-2 tie leading to penalties.Both teams in preparations for the penalties, changed their goalkeepers.After missing her first two spot kicks and going on to miss their fourth, all hopes were lost for Civil Engineering giving Petroleum Engineering their win and bronze medal.

This result means that Petroleum engineering claimed the third position of SEALS Cup 2025 competition and would get the bronze medal.
