The management of the University of Ibadan, Thursday, commissioned the new Infinix Students Resource Center at the Students Union Building Foyer.
This resource center, which was formerly occupied by Airtel, saw in attendance the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Kayode Adebowale; Professor Keye Abiona, the Dean of Students Affairs; Mrs. A. O. Akinpelu, the Assistant Registrar; Mr. G. O. Saliu, the Registrar and some other principal officers of the university.
Speaking at the event, the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Keye Abiona announced that the resource center would offer opportunities that will aid students’ productivity with the availability of free wifi, electricity as well as a conducive working environment at a low affordable cost, adding that the center will also be used to host hackathons events periodically to enhance students’ innovative skills.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale also reiterated the support of the University Management to the smooth running of the Center by providing adequate security and ensuring general maintenance of the center and a management personnel that will be responsible for the center, further expressing his gratitude to the Infinix team for bringing such innovation to the University of Ibadan.
Speaking with UCJUI, Mr. Liu, the manager of Infinix Ibadan, said: “building the resource center is not only a regional item but a brand item, so the university should expect more support from Infinix. Students are the future of the country, hence doing something for the university is doing something for the country.”
