
The Egbe Oodua, South Florida arm has given scholarship awards to twenty-one(21) students of the University of Ibadan on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024.
The presentation of N200K cheques to the awardees, which was held at the Senate Chambers, marked the 7th year since the cultural group has been rewarding outstanding academic excellence in the institution.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Peter Olapegba, who was present to represent the Vice-Chancellor, appreciated the Group for rewarding academic excellence, whilst also maintaining that despite the funding issues that plague various institutions, the University of Ibadan is still a brand of excellence.
The President of the Group, Chief Olaigbe, while speaking, noted that education is the only way to break the cycle of poverty. “Being successful is not about making money only but lifting people,” he said further charging the awardees to also learn to give back to society.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Keye Abiona also appreciated the Group for their contribution to the institution through the scholarship scheme, further advocating for more students to be catered for.
