At about 6:00am on Thursday 22nd October 2015, residents of D block in the premier hall, Kenneth Mellanby, protested due to the epileptic power supply in the block. Following the protest, the residents of the block matched to the maintenance department to lodge their complaints. Later in the morning, residents of the hostel stopped the food vendors in the hall from selling to students with the exception of biscuit sellers and till Sunday 25th October 2015 evening, the cafeterias in the hall remained closed.
