MEET THE IVORY QUEEN

missuii

QIP had a chat with the newly crowned Miss Ui who is also the current Miss idia, below are excerpts from the chat.

QIP: Can we meet you?

MISS UI: My name is Onikote Yetunde Abosede. I am a 200Level Student of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts. I am an indigene of Ogun State, Shagamu Local Government but I live in Surulere, Lagos with my parents and siblings. I am the third out of four children

QIP: what was your motivation to contest for Miss UI?

MISS UI:  I have a passion for modeling and pageantry. I had a strong feeling and passion that I just must do it, which I can’t even explain or comprehend.

QIP: What was it like being Miss Idia?

MISS UI: It was enjoyable and a very good experience because people I didn’t know always refer to me as ‘Miss Idia’ and I would respond lively. I got to meet a lot of people and it also changed my image and lackadaisical attitude towards life. I didn’t really care about anything but after the victory and everyone was saying hi to me, I had to put some punctuation in my straight life.

QIP: Did you feel you had an edge over other contestants?

MISS UI: I felt everyone had a distinct feature that will make them win. I was not so certain but I gave myself courage and confidence that no matter what happened, I would still remain standing.

QIP: What was the most memorable event about the boot camp?

ANSWWER: the outings and the pep talks were really encouraging. It was fun going outside school with the other contestants. The food was also on point and we were fed like we were home.

QIP: Now that you have two crowns, what next, is there going to be a third one and what plans do you have in mind for UItes?

MISS UI: There should be but not immediately. I like to make a difference with this crown, unlike the Idia crown, when I didn’t have the time. I would like to put the crown to a better use

for the benefits of UItes and other oncoming Ivory queens. I’m not being gender biased but the ideas I have are mostly for the ladies and it’s still in package, so watch out.

QIP: WHAT WAS IT LIKE WORKING WITH YOUR MANAGER?

MISS UI: my manager is Mary-Jane Daniels, my course mate, classmate and friend and now a sister. She was everything I could ask for in a manager. It was like she took Damilola Oladoyinbo’s position and sash and wore it entirely. She was there for me and it was an awesome experience.

QIP: How did you feel during the contest?

MISS UI: It was exciting because I was the first contestant and always said a little prayer before stepping out. I would smile at my manager and she would tell me I looked awesome and great. I felt the attention I pulled because I was confident and was not bothered. I went there to have fun and surely, I did.

QIP: How did you feel when you were announced the winner?

MISS UI: I was ecstatic and overexcited. The same thing that happened in Idia happened over there because everyone came to cover me before I was even crowned, which I was not even expecting. I was happy for myself, I was happy people were happy for me.

MISS UIQIP: What is your philosophy of life?

MISS UI: Life is not hard. Take it as simple as you can and you will succeed but put God first in everything you do. Life will be hard if you feel you can’t do it. Always see

QIP: Should the guys apply?

MISS UI: They should apply, but they can only apply for friendship form.

QIP:  Who would you like to make a shout-out to?

MISS UI: I would like to make a shout-out to all Idiates, I’m happy and excited you all came to support me. My non-Idiate friends, I love you so much. To Faculty of Arts students, I recognized you amongst the crowd and I felt loved. Also, I would like to make a shout- out to my manager, makeup artist and friend- Mary-Jane. I love you all so much and I appreciate everything you have done for me. To God, I am really blessed and I won’t say I’m lucky. It’s all God’s doing.
