The Students’ Union Executives released a memo on Tuesday, 22nd if April, calling off the protest that was slated for Wednesday 23rd April.
This is following the suspension of the MDCAN Strike action which lasted for over 4 months.
In the press release circulated on April 22, 2025, the Students’ Union of the University of Ibadan (UI’SU) expressed sincere gratitude to the university community for their patience during the prolonged Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) strike, which lasted over 120 days and significantly impacted clinical students.
The Union stated that it had actively engaged with stakeholders through consistent dialogue, press releases, and media demonstrations to salvage the situation.
Appreciating the cooperation of the University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association, Unibadan Association of Dental Students, and their representatives, the Union reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for all students’ interests.
“We are equipped and well-positioned to advocate for the interests of all students, and we remain fully committed to doing so,” the Union stated, assuring the university community that their concerns would continue to be represented.
