JUST IN: ScienceL&D President Retracts Statement, Apologizes to Vice-President

The President of the Faculty of Science Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan, Bayo Salaudeen, has issued a public retraction and apology following a controversial release on November 29, 2024, that blamed the society’s loss at ‘Jawwar 2024’ on its vice president, Oluwabukunmi Amoo.

In a new statement dated November 30, 2024, Salaudeen admitted that his earlier decisions and statements were rash and uncalled for. He expressed regret for shifting the blame for the faculty’s defeat onto Amoo and acknowledged that, as a leader, he should have taken full responsibility for the loss.

I take full responsibility that all the issues mentioned in the previous address should have been contained and handled within the Faculty of Science Literary and Debating Society,” he stated. Salaudeen assured the public that the issues raised in the initial release have now been resolved internally.

The president extended a heartfelt apology to Amoo for tarnishing her public image and to other stakeholders, including the alumni, faculty leaders, and students. He emphasized his commitment to making amends, adding that Amoo will retain her position as vice president of the society.

This retraction marks a turn of events for the Faculty of Science L&D Society, as Salaudeen vows to rebuild trust within the society and its wider community.
