According to the Head Logistics (Sub-Committee) of the Students Union Elections Committee (SUEC), Olaniyi Sodeeq (Principal), the total number of accredited voters that would be voting in the UI’SU elections scheduled to begin tomorrow, Saturday 22nd of February, 2025 stands at 8,571.
This number stands at a slight increase from the total number of voters who casted their votes during the Host administration two sessions ago, a figure which stood between 8,124 to 8,174.
According to Nigerian Higher Education Foundation (NHEF), University of Ibadan currently has over 33,000 students across it’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
These figures bear testament to the apathetic nature of the student populace towards participation in political activities and the failure of the SU Electoral Committee to mobilize for the election.
As of press time, the time for the commencement of tomorrow’s elections has not been revealed.
