Forty-three students of the University of Ibadan from across various faculties have been selected for the 2024 Bridge Fellowship.
The Bridge Program is a highly selective fellowship that identifies and develops change-makers to build Nigeria’s leadership capacity across sectors. The fellowship begins with a two-week intensive boot camp followed by a lifetime of training, mentorship, access to resources and opportunities to forge a successful leadership journey.
Each year, selected high-potential young leaders are invited to join the network. The Bridge fellows become part of a large network of future leaders and nation builders who will take bold steps to transform Nigeria’s economy.
This year’s application saw 150 students selected from nearly 4,000 applications received across 130+ universities in Nigeria. Of these 150, 43 are students of the University of Ibadan.
Fellows from the University of Ibadan for this year’s cohort are from the Faculty of Technology; Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences; Faculty of Law; Faculty of Arts; Faculty of Pharmacy; Faculty of The Social Sciences; Faculty of Science; Faculty of Agriculture; Faculty of Education; and Clinical Sciences.

Speaking with UCJUI, one of the fellows, Ayotomiwa Elesho, a 400 level Political Science student, expressed gratitude for his selection and looks forward to how the fellowship would help him to improve his works in the social impact space.
I’m really pleased to have been selected for The Bridge Program 2024. For years, I have actively sought and taken advantage of opportunities that will teach me strategies of combining my entreprenerial passion and social impact drive and excel in both. The Bridge Program is structured to help me achieve the foregoing. Also, the Bridge Program creates a connection between personal and leadership development. And since I’m seeking to develop myself in these two facets of life, I look forward to learning at the Bridge Program,” he said.
Another fellow, Annastesia Ononuju, a 500 Level Law student, noted that the fellowship is an opportunity for her to improve on her skillset and also excited about how it is going to help her be the professional she aspire to be.
“The Bridge Fellows Program, to me, is an opportunity to self-improve and develop my skills. The Bridge offers a platform to build an individual in a like-minded community that supports one another. Understanding that this will be a bridge between who I am now and the professional I aspire to be, made it easy to sacrifice one week of school. So far, my expectations have been surpassed. I have learnt a great deal about new perspectives to things I knew before. I am grateful for this opportunity and I am glad I made the sacrifice,” she said.
