The University of Ibadan Local Organization of the Junior Chamber International (JCIN UI) on Sunday, 9th May 2020, held her 3rd General Assembly at the Student Representative Council Chambers of the Student Union Building in the University of Ibadan.
The General Assembly which began at 2 pm went on a break at about 3 pm during which a training titled: “Harnessing Opportunities in JCI” was facilitated by Ambassador Babatunde Samson, an international officer of the Organization.
Babatunde spoke of JCI as a leadership organization whose vision is “to be the leading global network of young active citizens.” He added that JCIN is not like a restaurant where one pays and expects to get served. According to him, JCI is rather like a gymnastic where you “pay and still work it out.”
At the resumption of the General Assembly, the Executive Vice President, Directors of Individual opportunities, Directors of Induction, Directors of Smith Waheed Gbolahan InterSecondary School Debate, Lanre Bello Interfaculty Debate as well as the Chairperson of Pad Awareness all presented their Plans of Action. The plans of action which are the blueprint of the organization for the year in the highlighted programs were reviewed by members and subsequently adopted.
In attendance at the General Assembly which was held in a parliamentary style were the Local Organization President of the University of Ibadan, Fareedah Animasaun, the Immediate Past President, Ogbaje Mordecai, two Executive Vice Presidents; Afolabi Nasirudeen (Male), Ikuemonisan Opemipo, the General Secretary, Fareedah Oladejo, the General Legal Counsel in person of Adeyemi Boluwatife, as well as other dignitaries of the organization.
The General Assembly which ended at 6: 12 pm also had in attendance, some past executives, observers from other chapters as well as intending members, who recently wrote the membership examination of the organization.
