In the Sigma setting, a Sigmite must address the Sigma Chief before anybody else on seat. This was one of the revelations on Friday, 14th September, 2018 at the Sigma Club Press Conference ahead of the Sigma Guest Luncheon holding in October 6. The Deputy Chief of Sigma UI while answering questions as regards the operations of the house stated that the Sigma Chief has to be acknowledged before even the Vice Chancellor if seated. It is believed that the Sigma Chief does not only represent the 67 other Sigma Chiefs that are before him but also the 68-year old organisation and as such, should be accorded that regard.
The Sigma Club, reputed as the oldest surviving student association in Sub-Saharan Africa will at the Guest Luncheon mark her 68th anniversary alongside the Induction of His Royal Highest Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II — The Emir of Kano — into the revered Sigma Roll of Honour. According to the press release by Sigma Chief, Mr. Valentinus, the Emir will be stepping into the seat vacated by his predecessor, Late Alhaji Ado Bayero, CFR who was inducted into the Sigma Roll of Honour in 1977 as the 12th Honorary Sigmite.
Also responding to various questions surrounding the upcoming event and the general conduct of the society, The Sigma Chief reiterated that the event was going to be strictly by invitation so as to ensure crowd control and the security of the imminent guests expected. Sigma loyalists and their Sigma Wives who have been presented before the Sigma Chief, Sigma Friends, and representatives of the Union of Campus Journalists are some of those granted invitation.
