The new Studentsʼ Union President of the University of Ibadan, Aweda Bolaji Damilola (Oloye) has pledged to promote transparency and accountability as the president of the union.

He made this declaration at the inauguration ceremony which was held at Trenchard Hall, on Monday, May 13, 2024.

“As the president of the Union, I pledge to maintain a high level of professionalism, promoting transparency and accountability at every turn. I will place priority on establishing effective communication channels to ensure that all students are kept informed of every development and decision,” he said.

He also promised to make better the lives of students in major areas such as transportation, academics, and entrepreneurship development.

Aweda implored the management to re-invite student leaders to the negotiation table to discuss the school fee increment matter that has resurfaced.

“We therefore call on the school management to reconsider and invite the students to the negotiation table to work out a common ground that takes into account the financial constraints of members of the Student community. We iterate our commitment to engaging in constructive dialogue and to advocate for a fee structure that is fair and considers the harsh economic realities faced by our student community,” he affirmed.
