“I have never made a perfect film and I will never make one…” – Kunle Afolayan

Kunle Afolayan, an award winning film maker and actor on Friday 22nd July, 2016,revealed at the 2nd the university of Ibadan Red carpet speaker series convened by Prof.Olusegun Ojewuyi , that he had never made a perfect film and will never make one but endeavour to give his best always and win the majority to his side.

While speaking to students present at the Arts theatre, he acknowledged, Tunde Kelani,a veteran film producer/director as his mentor who made him develop the passion for acting and film making.
Kunle Afolayan, who is the 7th child out of his late father’s twenty-five children said his late father (popularly known as “Ade love”) also contributed to the success he has achieved today.

“I have a disturbed mind … even sometimes I communicate with my late father in my dreams and we talk film; this has however affected my ‘film thinking’…” Kunle Afolayan claims after being asked to explain the mystery behind his movies. He said the stories behind his films are often influenced by his environment, beliefs and worries. He then linked this to the brand which his films have attained in Nollywood.

Also discussed during the programme are issues arising in the Nigerian film making industry, script conference, types of film, film festivals, commercial film making and lots more.

The speech session which lasted about 4 hours provoked the attendance of many Uites and few students from Obafemi Awolowo University and Redeemer’s university and also lecturers from the department of Theatre arts.

This Speaker Series is said to be continued on Monday, 25th July 2016 where another great speech from a media specialist, politician and theatre scholar, Reuben Abati will be presenting.
