The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Idowu Olayinka, has said that he has never held unto the notion that students are irresponsible, as he has always believed in the responsible nature of students.
He made this known at the Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan during his opening speech at the finals of JawWar 2016 – the largest public speaking event in the University, on Thursday 10th of November 2016.
Professor Idowu Olayinka commended the idea behind the organization of the event which according to him is part of the training which students are to undergo as students of the University of Ibadan.
In his words, “This programme is worthy of being supported…I believe this is part of the training from the University of Ibadan. Since it is organised by students for students, what we can do is to support you.”
The Vice Chancellor promised to give laptop prizes to the winners of the event, at the level of Faculties and Halls of residence and was delivered before the end of the programme
