Going Through the Process

By Osarennoma Ogbeide

We all need to take baby steps to walk like an adult. Little drops of water make a mighty ocean.  The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. All it takes is process, and patience in the process. I believe if I end this write up here, it’s enough to trigger some thoughts and pass a profound message, but allow me to expand some more.

We are more driven by the fact that we want to see results quickly than we want to go through the process to get them. This is why many go through short cuts but it’s unfortunate that those routes only cut short the worth and originality of their outcomes. Look at this analogy, a mango tree will only bear mango fruits. If it takes a mango tree three to five years to bear fruits after planting, then there’s certainly little that you can do to fast track the growth process, no matter how much you care for the tree. You just have to wait for the time span, because there is a process that must occur before results are seen.

Deciding to take the short cut in this scenario, perhaps with genetic engineering or use of chemicals, may give you the results quite alright but there are consequences that would definitely leave you wishing you had followed due process. That is just how life is.

A friend of mine was talking about how she had been really hoping for something to happen for a while. She acknowledged that she thought it would all magically happen in the blink of an eye but she was brought to the realisation that the baby steps she had been taking was what mattered. That you’re not seeing the desired result today doesn’t mean you won’t get there. You need to crawl before you walk. You need to walk before you can run.

No matter how desperately we want to achieve a goal or attain a desired result, resist the urge to take short cuts. The process might be long, stressful and painstaking but it’s also one to learn and grow. Nothing beats experience right? If and when you feel like giving up or taking the easy route out just remind yourself of this-We all need to have taken baby steps to walk like an adult. Little drops of water make a mighty ocean.  The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step.
