FIFA WORLD CUP CONTINUES

 

The never-ending actions from the world cup in Russia is back with some surprises, twists and tales which couldn’t get any less predictable. From one of the strong houses, Argentina losing 3-0, to an Ahmed Musa football masterclass, here are the top highlights from the second matches in the group stage.

  • Hosts nation Russia have shown why they shouldn’t be written off, they have shown clear intent to get to the very last stages of the competition as they have claimed maximum possible points heading to gameweek 3 and knocked both Saudi Arabia and Egypt out of the competition.
  • Spain and Portugal are not having an easy ride as most expected as Iran and Morocco have established themselves as difficult oppositions.
  • Argentina were beaten black and blue by a Luka Modric inspired Croatian side, Argentina who most would have expected to be group leaders haven’t found their rhythm yet as they have managed to pick up just one point in two games.
  • Nigeria produced an excellent performance in the 2nd half of their match against Iceland as their beat the Icelandians 2-0 and continued their superb record against European oppositions.
  • Runaway group leaders England and Belgium have clearly taken the spotlight in their group. Is this the time one of them wins the World Cup?
