The leadership of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union, alongside representatives of various students organizations have met with the management but the meeting ended in a deadlock without any resolution to the demand of the union.
The meeting, which was held on Monday in the Board room of the institution saw the Students Union President, Samuel Samson Tobiloba (HOST) through the representatives presented the case for a review of the increment but was not considered by the management.
Addressing these representatives, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, emphasized the new amount, citing recurring expenditure, underfunding of tertiary institutions, and the status of infrastructure, in defense of the increment.
Speaking to UCJUI after the meeting, the Union President noted that the representatives went to the management hoping to get a positive result but the outcome was unexpected, revealing that the union would further consult for the way forward.
“We were hopeful that the management will see reasons with us to change their position but that was not the case. But then, we will go back, consult among ourselves, and decide what the way forward would be,” he assured.
