FACULTY OF EDUCATION HOLDS HER PERSONALITY LECTURE IN COMMEMORATION WITH UI @70

On a Monday morning which was to be 29th, October 2018, the faculty of education held her personality lecture at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.

At the event were dignitaries within and outside the university community. Among them were the chief host, the deputy Vice Chancellor (administration), K.O Adebowale, Mrs Rose Oyedele, the senior assistant to Oyo state governor,dean of faculty of education- Prof. J.A Ademokoya, and the guest speaker, Hon. Abike Dabiri Erewa (the special assistant to the president on diaspora and foreign affairs), among others.

The dean of the faculty gave his opening address welcoming all invited guests, staffs and students to the personality lecture tagged * Building Capabilities of Nigerian Youths Against Slave Trade and Illegal Migration.* The DVC gave his welcome speech as well speaking about the university and the guest speaker of the personality lecture.

Mrs Rose Oyedele, representing the chairperson of the event, Dr. Florence Ajimobi afterwards addressed the audience and delivered the speech of Dr. Florence Ajimobi. Following immediately was the citation of the guest lecturer which brought her to the podium.

The guest speaker, Dr Abike Dabiri Erewa narrated how Nigerians trafficked abroad are being maltreated in prisons stressing the fact that many of them are youths.

“Mother sell their children into trafficking, many are in India, Indonesia, Morocco and many countries” she buttressed the roles of parents in child trafficking. Going further,she discussed some of the reasons behind illegal migration which are unemployment, poverty, illiteracy, lack of moral values, greed, bad governance.

In suggesting ways to stop child trafficking, the speaker opined that skills acquisition should be encouraged. She also said all stakeholders should fight against illegally migration,and that traffickers need to be arrested And jailed. She concluded by saying “Look before you leap, every human being deserves to live”
