FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE IN COLLABORATION WITH FACULTY OF EDUCATION EMBARKS ON “AGROEDUCATORS” EXCURSION TO KWARA STATE

The Faculty of Agriculture under the umbrella of its Students Association known as NAAS in collaboration with Faculty of Education students Association (NUESA) embarked on a tour to Kwara state between 25th and 28th August 2016.

The Excursion had in attendance both Staffs and Students. The Staff Advisers of both Faculties Dr. Omoreige (Education) and Mr. Oso (Aagro-education-studentsgriculture) respectively accompanied the students to the tour.

As reported, the travel agency behind the tour, Ultimate travels and tours, were in charge of the feeding, accommodation and transportation. However, the four buses that transported the tourists developed both major and minor faults at different points separately, which infuriated the students.

The Day 2 of Excursion was the visit to Shonga Farms after which a pool party later in the midnight around 1:00am took place, to cool off and ease the tension of the long journey which lasted up to 12 hours.

The following day (Day 3) which was the final day of the tour, it was reported that there was a little rancor between the planning Committee and the travels agency as regards the places of visit. Students clamored for Owu Waterfalls and Unilorin Lake as stated in the places of interest to be visited, but apparently they only ended up Visiting the Mall, Shoprite before heading straight back to Ibadan. The buses did arrived back to University of Ibadan in the Night around 9:00pm.

Speaking with some students about Excursion to Kwara State, some of them who claimed anonymity expressed their dissatisfaction and displeasure over the shabby planning made by the organizers. The Social Director of Faculty of Agric., blamed the travel agency for the shabby development, she furthermore stated that some students paid on the day of the Excursion movement, so it did cause for changes in plans. Investigations further revealed that the Excursion fee was subsidized for some set of students. The students made series of sarcastic comments about the Excursion visit to Kwara state because their demands were not met.
