Extension Professor Recommends Fourth Deputy VC

Professor Adekoya of the department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development has recommended that the University of Ibadan appoints a fourth Deputy Vice-Chancellor on Extension Outreach and Community Service.

The professor made this recommendation to the Vice-Chancellor and chairman of the event, Professor Kayode, Adebowale, on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Trenchard Hall during his inaugural lecture titled Nigeria’s Agricultural Development: A Singsong with Asynchronous Tunes.

The recommendation came after highlighting the need for extension across all departments of the university and as a means to take the information in the university to the town. He added by noting efforts by his department to extend agriculture to the town and mentioned “Operation Green Your Landscape” which should have started in 2020 but was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He, however, said that the programme which is meant to encourage Urban Agriculture and backyard farming is ready for launch.

Present at the lecture were principal officers of the university and members of Staff from the department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development.
