Ties that bind & our forgotten soap operas
I can’t just stand the thoughts as they rush through my mind, some of the things that kept us together especially in the home or as family when I was younger. But I am so sure, one of the strong forces that bound us together then was the TV series or soap operas. These bring the whole family together in love, to learn, have fun and relax after a long day at work.
I can confidently say those times when cable networks and other satellite stations were yet to storm our society, our local TV stations made more sense and had values to us unlike now. These TV stations took it on themselves to show most of these soap operas especially in the evening. Although majority of these TV stations are already incorporated in most of the satellite networks now, yet they can’t be compared to the old times. Personally, I think they bridged the gap between the parents and the children that have long been separated during the day.
I’ll like to bring to our memory shortly, some of those soap operas which you may find fascinating to reflect on. Most of them still remain fresh within me when I have the cause to reflect on them, and also the lessons I have drawn from them.
It is certain that a vast number of us watched the TV comedy show “PAPA AJASCO’’ , the popular and educative ‘’ SUPER STORY’’ which had the early days of ‘’ Oh father, Oh daughter’’, ‘’Face of Deceit’’ and so on; shown on Thursdays on NTA especially.
I will like to ask whether you watched the likes of ‘’ DANCE OF SHAME’’; shown on Galaxy Television, ‘’DEAR MOTHER’’, ‘’TREASURES’’, ‘’THIS LIFE’’? Or is it the popular comedy show ‘’FUJI HOUSE OF COMOTION’’ shown on Sundays.
Other ones to mention include: ‘’FORTUNES’’, ‘’THIRD EYE’’, ‘’PALACE’’,’’ MIRROR IN THE SUN’’ .
I am sure we all still remember ‘’EVERYDAY PEOPLE’’. One thing I can’t forget about this particular one is the song… Everyday people, that’s you, that’s me…
Well, it seems you remember a lot more than I do about these soap operas, you can always do yourself a favour of recollecting them and have something to laugh about. More so, you will agree with me that, this was one of the strong forces that bound us as family.
And wait… “Ties that bind”? Doesn’t that sound like another soap opera?
ONE LOVE BINDS US TOGETHER.
