THE German thing!!!
The burning of an author’s books, imprisonment for opinion’s sake, has always been the tribute that an ignorant age pays to the genius of its time – Joseph Allen

It is no longer news that the “Sociolinguistics Appraisal of Foreign Language in Nigeria ended a success. And ASES Press out rightly congratulates all members of the executive for their individual and collective input, that made the event a success, hoping that it will dismiss all claims that the Press is in a power tussle with the executive arm.
It is of course the duty of the press to commend the good works as well as condemn the excesses and wrong doings of the executive as well as any other arm of government of the people it swears allegiance to.
Let it also be known that in the course of the discharge of its duty, the press will not by any chance be arm-twisted, coerced or pressured to compromise its integrity with any group, be it the executive members. Either by force, restraint, or refusals of funds, the press will continue to serve its purpose to ASESites and to the freedom of the rights of individuals and groups that have been marginalized or deprived of their rights. For we shall champion freedom by our pen!!!
A forbidden writing is thought to be a spark of truth that flies up in the face of them who seek to tread it out.
Maybe it is coming too early but it will be appropriate to state that the executive council headed by Mr. Fatola Anuoluwapo owes the Council of Presidents and Secretaries(CPS) an explanation and apology for the flagrantly marginalization of their constitutional right and place in the just concluded “departmental personality lecture” or better still forum.
What can be said of an association, or a state functioning as a democratic entity, that has little or no regard for its rule of law – constitution?
The fact that all members that are constitutionally recognized as the standing committee of all social activities of the Association of Students of European Studies (ASES) – CPS where not formally informed of the just concluded European Studies personality lecture is a big blow to the motto of our great association – ‘Unity in diversity’.
If the program was a departmental thing, it is rather baffling that no lecturer was officially invited. “I rejected their letter which came by 10:00am on Friday.” A lecturer complained bitterly
Was it a German thing or an ASESites thing!!!
Greatest ASESites it will become of the ASES Press, the quotes which was said by Dante Alighieri “the darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis” if we sit back and watch the wrong doings simply because we were not funded.
Funded or Not!!! We (ASES PRESS) will stand strong and fight any form of tyranny against the people.
To those whom it may concern “Give up your selfishness and you shall find peace; like water mingling with water, you shall merge in absorption.” – Sakyong Mipham
