AS THEY BECOME TRUE GRADUATES…
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith- Apostle Paul
The Faculty of Technology Press Organisation popularly known as TECHPRESSORG expresses her utmost pleasure concerning the graduation of about 1,000 students from the renowned school of Engineering in the University of Ibadan. We cannot begin to reel out the rigours and vigour undergone by these fellows before the adornment of those victorious gowns.
Of green note is the Immediate Past Editor-In-Chief of this reputable Press Organisation, Mr. Osho Samuel. A man who has inscribed his name on the tablets of history. Congratulations Mr Osho Samuel, as we believe your transition to the world is for exploits beyond human comprehension! Congratulations to the graduates!
Now, it is solely your world. No right to allowances as before, no imposition of rules from parents, and no further academic frustrations except you choose to. It is a world where you sail your ship to wreck or safety.
It is expedient we ring bells of caution in these ears as they truly begin their sojourn as graduates of the Premier University. Being ambassadors of the great University of Ibadan is a feat millions of youths crave, either secretly or publicly. Therefore, it is a treasure one ought to relish forever and all efforts must be made to jealously guard the image of the institution.
The Senate is sending you out, not only as ambassadors of the Premier but as soldiers of truth, to establish justice and embrace honesty. The Senate is sending you into a nation whose fabric is sewn with the thick threads of corruption. A country drenched in the gutters of greed and money-lust!
Thus, we appeal to you that as you proceed, make your little significant contribution in the salvage of a crashing nation. We don’t expect you to accept opportunity targeted towards denting the image of your Alma mata. We cannot afford to multiply the burdens out there, No! Not in the collapsing state of the nation.
So, whatever the aspirations you nurse as graduates, let it be absent the notion of ‘chop and clean mouth’.
On a final note, it was certainly a season of thorough breeding in the unfriendly hands of the University of Ibadan. It couldn’t have been rosy being an alumnus of the institution. However, whatever it is that has a beginning will assuredly possess an end. It was the beginning, it is the end now!
Congratulations!
