The keynote speaker, Dr Nicholas Erameh, a lecturer in the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Chrisland University, stated that coup is becoming a regular phenomenon in Africa.
He said this during his speech at the 1st Prof. Billy Dudley Annual symposium organised by the Political Science Press (POSSPRESS) on September 30th 2021.

According to Dr Nicholas Erameh, military rule has become synonymous with Africa. He added that the coups have weaken the countries’ democracy, caused chaos and instability in the political system.
The symposium also featured an oratory contest among eight students of the Department of Political Science on the topic “The Role of Media in Nation Building”.
Prof. Remi Aiyede, Head of Department, Political Science, presented awards to Bobola James, Gloria Popoola and Ola-Stephen Favour as the 2nd runner-up, 1st runner-up and first- prize winners of the contest respectively.
President of the Union Campus Journalist, Miss Rauf Fasilat, facilitated the swearing in of POSSPRESS new inductees. She also presented certificate to the best inductee of the Department in the person of Lanlehin Habeeb.
Also, the winners of the 1st Alumni Press Association Essay, Adebayo Abdulrahman (3rd), Victoria Shanu (2nd) and Akinjide Abiola (1st) were presented certificates by the Editor-in-chief of POSS Press, Oyekanmi Abiodun.
Awards of recognition were presented to the HOD of the Department of Political Science, Dr Nicholas Erameh and Mr James Ezema.
The POSSPRESS Editor-in-chief also launched the magazine of the Political Science Press Organisation which was written five years after the last one was published.
