The management of the University of Ibadan has shifted ground on school fees and asked students to wait for the Governing Council’s resolutions.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olapegba, while addressing the student leaders, noted that the current fees were approved by the Ministry of Education but the management would have to table the concerns of the students to the Governing Council for further deliberations.
As it stands, the August 4 deadline for payment of school fees ceases to hold.
The Student Union President, Aweda Bolaji, while responding, argued that the Council should meet as soon as possible, while also ensuring that the interests of students are projected.
When asked about when the Governing Council would convene, the DVC mentioned that it’s beyond the management but the meeting would be very soon to address the fee hike.
