University of Ibadan forward Babalola Boluwatife scored the winner for the Premiere University when they welcomed MOOR/Animal Science in their round of 16 clash at Awo Stadium.
The UI Pioneers traded tackles with Oyo State Tertiary Institution MOOR/Animal Science for a spot in the quarterfinals of the Oyo State Tertiary Institutions Football Competition.
UI were always favorites going into the tie considering the quality of the two sides. However, MOOR/Animal Science were dogged.
The visitors had a chance to score early on, but UI goalkeeper Gbolahan was on hand to handle their threat. The Pioneers soon settled into the game, pushing MOOR/Animal Science back.
Nonetheless, they were not sharp enough in attack to carve out the visitors’ defense line. UI were clearly the better side in the first period, but they failed to make it reflect on the scoreline.
The Pioneers started the second half with more fire, and they finally got the reward for their work halfway through the half.
Boluwatife jumped highest to meet a cross on the near side, and he sent a well-placed header into the visitors’ goal to make it 1-0.
MOOR/Animal Science pushed harder for more goals in the second half, but UI held on strong to see out their lead.
The results seals a spot for the Premiere University in the quarterfinals of the Oyo State Tertiary Institutions football competition.
