BE MINDFUL OF WHAT YOU POST ONLINE, FACILITATORS TELL JOURNALISTS

Members of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan have been told to be mindful of their posts on the social media as whatever is posted online will be there forever.

The information was passed during the Google digital skill acquisition programme which was conducted by the Union of Campus Journalists in partnership with Google Inc. and which held at the SRC Chambers in the Kunle Adepeju building on 2nd July 2016.

The Facilitators of the programme, Mr. Segun Banjo and Mr. Okochi Love discussed with pressmen, the basic digital skills needed of them to promote their journalistic profession through the rightful use of the online platform. While giving information on how to efficiently manage the users of the information, one of the resource persons told pressmen to take note of four major things.

“The right consumer, the right time, the right message and the right medium”, he said. The campus journalists were also urged to embrace digital marketing as almost every transaction is carried out online. Remarking on the trends in the digital world of contemporary times, one of the facilitators said, “screens have become smaller, everyone and everything is online”
