Archeology and Anthropology Defeat Statistics 2-0 in SEALS Cup Third-place Play-off

The Department of Archeology & Anthropology dominated their encounter against Statistics securing a 2–0 win in the SEALS Cup third-place play-off.

The game started with early pressure from Arch & Anth, and just 4 minutes in, Arch’s No. 7 nearly opened the scoring but squandered the chance with a poor finish. However, she made amends in the 7th minute, receiving a through ball and firing a powerful shot into the top left corner to give Arch & Anthony a 1–0 lead.Arch continued to press, and by the 10th minute, they had doubled their advantage.

This time it was No. 6, Olamide, who added her name to the scoresheet with a clinical finish, putting her side firmly in control.Statistics made an early substitution as Deola came off for Eniola in hopes of shifting the momentum.

Eniola attempted a long-range shot in the 12th minute, but Stats’ No. 11 did well to block it. Moments later, the leaders nearly made it three after a free kick from Kemi found No. 7, but the shot is drifted wide.Statistics headed into the second half began with some level of renewed energy from Stats. And in the 17th minute, they had a moment of intensity, but the Arch & Anth defence held strong. Stats’ Haliyah (No. 7) remained a key figure, trying to spark something for her team but was consistently shut down by Arch & Anth’s backline.

In the 23rd minute, Arch & Anth nearly found a third when No. 9 got on the end of a pass from No. 7 but fired narrowly wide. Haliyah tried once again from a corner in the 28th minute, but her effort was cleared following multiple headers from Arch defenders.

A late substitution by Arch saw their captain come off for Feranmi (No. 3), as they managed the game to its conclusion.
