APPLY: Destiny Trust-Henry Ofili Foundation Announces STEM Scholarship for Indigent Students

The Destiny Trust, in collaboration with the Henry Chijioke Ofili Foundation, has announced a new scholarship aimed at supporting students in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in Nigerian public universities.

In a press statement on Friday, the organization revealed that the scholarship targets young individuals aged 16-25 who exhibit exceptional academic and leadership potential but lack financial resources.

The statement also added that applicants must be exceptional in academics and have “convincing evidence of leadership and community service experience” as well as “verifiable evidence of lack of means or economic disadvantage.”

“The Destiny Trust is a social intervention focusing on the education, wellbeing, and STEAM skills empowerment of children and young people from vulnerable groups.

“The Trust provides an expansive and integrated education initiative that ensure access to quality education for vulnerable children and youths from primary to university levels in addition to providing shelter and care services for homeless and displaced children and youths to ensure that they have the required stability for pursuing their education ” the statement read in part.

“The Henry Chijioke Ofili Foundation was founded in honour of Henry Chijioke Ofili (1989-2008). Chijioke lived a life defined by excellence and was a man of extraordinary brilliance, immense generosity, and a constant quest for self-improvement.

“The family-run Foundation has established the scholarship endowment which is administered by The Destiny Trust in line with a mutual commitment to empower the next generation of STEM talents to attain their best potential and make a sustainable impact on their communities.”

Interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place from August 20-31, 2024, with scholarship awards announced by September 30, 2024.
