The Asido Campus Network, University of Ibadan, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, held a third edition of “Matters that Matters” a program aimed at creating suicie awareness and prevention.
This year’s edition themed “Rhythms of life”, featured musical performances, oratory presentations and a panel session addressing the need for mental awareness and the need for suicide prevention.
The event began with a presentation of Oratory by different student associations including, JCIN UI, The Sigma Club UI, UCJUI, Health Law Network UI, and MSN UI.
Their speeches explored sensitive topics such as silence, personal struggles, suicidal triggers, and the need to create a culture that challenges stigma the stigma surrounding mental health.
A representative of AIESEC Ibadan, Ayebisi Oluwafemi, raised the need to advocate for policies, and initiatives that promotes mental health awareness.
The event featured a panel discussion, creative performances, including music, spoken word amongst others.
