At exactly 09:10 pm on Monday, 9th February 2026, through its X page, the University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI’SU) addressed concerns raised by students following the memorandum from the Dean of Students regarding the 2025/2026 accommodation requirements and processes for returning students.

Following the memorandum released from the office of the Dean of Students, on Monday, 9th of February, 2026, that mandated returning students to fill an online University Health Service (UHS) Requisite Form, including uploading a scanned copy of their Jaja card during the application process, within a 3 days deadline, from Monday, 9th of February 2026 to Wednesday, 11th of February, 2026, in order to secure accommodation, concerns had been raised by students.

Following the concerns raised by the affected students, the University of Ibadan Students’ Union reported in a two-page release posted on their X page that they had a stakeholder meeting with the University Management regarding five key concerns raised by the affected students.

The five key concerns according to the letter are:
Mandatory upload of JAJA cards.
Students who are not on campus and do not have their JAJA cards.
Issues with UHS (JAJA) registration status, including lost cards.
Requirement to obtain a hall accommodation form.
Late communication about updates to the accommodation application.

After the issues were discussed during the meeting, the following resolutions and clarifications were reached according to the same letter:

  • Uploading the Jaja card image is optional (registration number still required).
  • Students without their Jaja card can proceed with their application.
  • Obtaining a hall accommodation form is no longer required, as it is not part of the application process.
  • The UHS Requisite Form applies only to returning students, not fresh (incoming) students.

Accommodation Application Timeline:
Feb 9–11: JAJA registration number/card uploading for all students.
Feb 12–19: Application and payment for accommodation (fresh students).
Feb 13–20: Application and payment begin (returning students).
Feb 21: Room allocation for fresh and final-year students.
Feb 26: Room allocation for other returning students.

In addition, the letter stated that the University of Ibadan Students’ Union is engaging with the management and private hostel owners to promote transparency, accountability, flexibility, and student-friendly pricing for private accommodation.
