I have gotten to see and learn that matters of the heart are very delicate and therefore need much care in its affairs. To be sure I was not being biased with my understanding of this, I gathered the views of others.
Jesupelumi sees matters of the heart as issues and sensitive things that the brain cannot handle on its own, so it goes to the heart. Truly, there is a mind-brain relationship and possibly a brain-heart relationship too. When some certain issues are relayed to the brain that could be termed out of its jurisdiction, it hands over to the heart to take care of.
Iyodo sees matters of the heart as things that have to do with love and relationship in a generic sense, which is also similar to what Seth thinks, that it pertains to feelings of love, care and companionship. Many see and believe this as a familiar responsibility taken care of by the heart. It is from the heart that love and care are birthed which eventually become evident in actions.
Silas viewed matters of the heart from different interesting angles. It could be things that bother you as an individual, what you ordinarily would not share with others. It could also be seen as things you care about, things you value and treasure. Little wonder the bible says where your treasure is, there your heart is also. Another translation puts it this way– for your heart will always pursue what you value as treasure. Simply put, matters of the heart are an embodiment of things that you treasure. Things that you carry in high esteem, be it your goals and dreams, emotions and feelings, your partner, loved ones and family or even personal thoughts.
Seeing that sensitive issues are handled in the heart, it is also reasonable that matters of the heart are treated with sensitivity as well. They are not to be toyed with. Little awareness about this may be an explanation to why people experience heart break. The unfortunate thing is that heartbreak opens the door to depression and other forms of distress.
Now, heartbreak is not just as a result of breaking off your relationship with a partner as that there are other things that occupy the heart. It could be as a result of you not achieving your goals, having a fallout with a family member or possibly being disappointed by someone you hold in high esteem. Heart break in any of these areas could be experienced, but how about you save your heart from more stress and take caution. Clearly define how you want things to go, when riding a particular path seems unhealthy to your heart, retreat and prevent avoidable errors. Many have experienced heart break one too many times and have not been able to be at their best again. It is like breaking a glass cup, even when mended, it cannot be as perfect as it was before.
So in order to prevent further shattering to pieces, guard your heart with all diligence, pay attention to its welfare.
