Many a number of residents of Independence Hall are being disenfranchised from exercising their civic right in this year Students’ Union election.
Reports have it that the electoral officers in the hall are demanding for the present session’s school Identity Card or school fee receipt before anybody is allowed to vote.
It must be noted that no prior announcement of the development was made before today and quite a number of Katangites who stay off campus cannot easily go home to take their school fee receipts.
Also worthy of note is the fact that the only set of people who can boast of having the present session’s ID card are the fresh students who were given theirs on the eve of their matriculation.
Updates from other hall show the development is peculiar to Independence Hall as hall ID cards are allowed in some other halls where the previous school ID card is not allowed.
