UI SU Holds Press Conference for SU Week

On October 11, the University of Ibadan Students’ Union held a press conference at Trenchard Hall to brief students on the 2025 Union Week, themed “Ivory Fest.” The session was led by Olabisi Owadayo, Vice President of the Students’ Union, who outlined the schedule and key highlights of the week-long celebration.

During the briefing, she addressed questions about the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” quiz competition, which will feature a cash prize for the winners. According to her, about seventy students took part in the online preliminary stage, from which six to eight top participants qualified for the grand finale.

She noted that the results were shared in the group to keep UItes informed about the event’s progress. The Vice President also appreciated the hall chairpersons and faculty representatives for their efforts in mobilising students across campus.

According to her, the Union Week will include a food carnival, rally, cultural carnival, tech conference, and health day. Other planned activities are a city tour and an inter-hall cooking competition. A sports carnival will also be held, featuring various sporting contests among students.

The celebration will culminate in the UI’s Got Talent Grand Finale, where contestants will showcase their talents and compete for exciting prizes. The Vice President extended an open invitation to all students to participate actively in the Ivory Fest.
