UCJUI HOLDS 27TH UCJ WEEK AND INDUCTION

The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan had her 27TH UCJ week from the 8- 13 December, 2014.
The week long activity featured a 2-day lecture which was centred on what journalism is all about and the history of UCJ which the UCJ President, Mr Folayemi Kayode facilitated.
On Monday, 8 December, 2014, Mr Jude Akintayo gave the inductee an insight on what campus journalism entails and how to publish on the press board. “it is a taboo in this century of ours to use thumb pins for publication but rather use colour thumb tags”. He also promised the inductees an internship opportunity at his online media outfit. After the first lecture, Mr popularly known as OBJ mounted the podium and gave a comprehensive lecture on News writing, features, opinions and editorial.
On Wednesday, 10 December, 2014 which was the third day of the week, Mr Fisayo Soyombo, a former president of UCJ gave a speech on the theme for this year’s UCJ week; online media: A new order in the world of journalism. He told the campus journalists to build their online presence and never be lazy. After his speech, the induction examination was conducted. Later in the evening, the result of the test conducted was released and three students were not qualified to be inducted.
On Thursday, those who qualified for excursion were taken to Nigerian Tribune and on Friday, UCJ members were taken to Ventura for film Show.
While Saturday, the grand finale of the UCJ week witness the finals of the Professor Francis Egbokhare Inter-Press Debate. SBHPO took the crown of public speaking and MHPO took the second position among the four press organisation that made it to the finals of the 3rd Professor Francis Egbokhare Inter-Press Debate. All qualified journalists took oath of induction and were given their certificate of induction.
