The Inter Hall Freshers’ Cup (Female Category) kicked off with a spirited opening match between the Amazons of Obafemi Awolowo Hall and the Queenites (Queen Elizabeth Hall).
The game began promptly at 4:53 PM, with both teams stepping onto the pitch eager to secure a winning start.
The Queenites arrived in style, displayed confidence and flair, while the Awoites seemed more reserved in comparison.
Despite this, both teams showed determination and gave their best throughout the match.
One standout Queenite player entertained the crowd, persistently dribbling through her opponents with ease, demonstrating skill and intensity.
Despite her efforts and several forward runs by the Queenites, the first half ended in a surprising goalless draw thanks to the Amazon’s goalkeeper, who made several crucial saves and appeared to be the most technically confident player on the pitch.
After a short halftime break, the second half resumed with a substitution from Awo Hall, bringing in a player who added fresh energy to the team.
Though the Queenites fought hard, they couldn’t find the back of the net.
The game ended in a 0-0 draw, a result that felt like a victory for the Amazons, who held their own against the more aggressive Queenites
