The Baluba Lions Escape Narrowly To The Final With A 1-0 Win Over Lord Tedder Hall

The Baluba Lions, today, at the Students’ Union Pitch l, beat Lord Tedder hall, 1-0 in the semi-final round of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union Interhall football competition. 

Baluba Lions had initially shown Ransome Kuti hall, in a 2 -1 win, the way out of the competition at the quarter-final round and are moving on to the final to face the renowned Sultan Bello hall. 

The only goal of the match was netted by Omotunde Oladotun, about 10 minutes into the first half. Toluwalase Eluwole known as Manniggy made the assist, a volley that was intercepted by Oladotun, and resulted in the goal. The match was Oladotun’s first appearance in the competition.

Nnamdi Azikiwe hall dominated the first half but Lord Tedder changed the game and took over in the second half with several shots on target and higher ball possession. UCJ UI spoke with the Balauba captain, Babalola Taofeek, and he said, “We thank God for the match because it was a narrow escape. Before we started the match, we had plans and tactics but getting to the game things didn’t turn out as planned.” 

Speaking with the goal scorer, he talked about their hopes of winning the tournament, he said, “We are very happy. It was a positive result and we hope to win the final.”
