SkillNG, a skill development and talent management company, has launched a programme to empower 1,000 youths with free digital skills in celebration of World Youth Skills Day 2021. The project was launched on Wednesday, at Bashorun, Ibadan.
Speaking at the press briefing, the founder of SkillNG, Mr. Oredola Ibrahim said that the aim of the program is to bring out the best of Nigerian youth in line with the company’s mission to empower and upskill the Africa youth force.
The project titled #Skill1000 was launched in order to celebrate the #WorldYouthSkillsDay 2021 and to help 1000 young people get skilled, get job or internship opportunities and increase their chances of getting sustainable means of income.
According to Mr. Oredola, the training will focus on product design, web design, graphics design, social media marketing, copywriting, SEO and content creation, data analysis, google workspace, customer service, software testing and software testing and brand identity design which will be done both online and onsite.
He said: “We have partnered with reputable organizations and businesses to launch project #Skill1000 in celebration of #WorldYouthSkillsDay 2021. Project #Skill1000 is aimed at helping 1000 young people get skilled, get job/internship placement and geometrically increase their chances of having a sustainable source of livelihood derived from the digital economy.”
“So, by training these 1,000 young people for free, we will be giving them a better chance at securing paid employment, not just that, they will also have the right skills to kickstart their freelancing career. The core objective is that after the project, we plan to have at least 70% success rate of young people who have not only acquired significant digital soft skills but also who have meaningfully kick-started their career on the right path and with the right resources and guidance.”
