UI student’s portal has experienced outage on Thursday immediately an official release of the university as regards close of registration for 2020/2021 academic session started making round.
The ‘Special Release’ signed by the institution’s Registrar, Olubunmi O. Faluyi, announced the close of registration for the ongoing academic session which is pegged for today, April 16 with late registration attracting a fee of N5,000 with effect from Monday, April 19.
After the announcement was made, student’s have had difficulties accessing the portal to make school fees payment and complete their course registrations.
While explaining the reasons behind this development, the UI SU President, Akeju Olusegun, stated that he had conversations with the Director of iTems who explained that there are too many pressure on the website which led to the site’s current behaviour.
On payment deadline, Akeju further stated that the management is yet to give feedback on an extension.
“However, looking at the way things are, the whole virtual learning is taking a lot of financial responsibilities from students, increment of school fees and everything. We can only expect the management to shift ground a little and give students sometimes to pay school fees. We don’t expect them to open and close the portal at any time.”
“We’ve written the management, the VC and every other person but we are yet to get anything from them. Hopefully, before the end of today, we should get feedback.” He concluded.
