Koleosho Ololade is a 300level student of the department of Philosophy, University of Ibadan. This interview introduces this young and multi-talented rising full-time university student. She owns and manages her own business being a make-up artist and also a hair stylist.

BRIEFLY INTRODUCE YOURSELF

I am koleosho A. Ololade. 21 years old, born on the 3rd January. I am a 300level student of philosophy. I am the last born of the three hardworking girls of my parents.

DO YOU DO OTHER THINGS APART FROM SCHOOL?

Yes, I am a business owner. A mobile make-up artist and hair stylist to be precise.

HOW HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO BALANCE BEING A FULL-TIME STUDENT PLUS BEING A MAKE-UP ARTIST AND A HAIR STYLIST?

It is not easy but so far I have been able to handle both. Over time, I learnt to manage time, place more priority on certain things and not get carried away. Passion is what I have for my business plus hard work that I put into it to grow the business and there is also a high level of hard work which I put into my school work. I have orders to be fulfilled on both sides. With good friends and a family that supports, it has been a success so far.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS AND WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

It has been 2 years since I resumed 100 level but my business was a year old on the 18th October 2015. What inspires me is my background and my sisters.

WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL AND WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT THE PERSON?

My role model is Mrs Kunbi Fashakin of SitPretty Beauty. Her attention to details is what drives me and also her level of creativity is to die for!

CAN YOU SHARE A LITTLE OF THIS BACKGROUND THAT INSPIRES YOU?

I am not too comfortable sharing those stories but I will over time.

DO YOU THINK THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY FAVOURS YOUR LINE OF BUSINESS?

Yes it does! Hugely! I can proudly say Nigeria has good make-up artists that are making waves.

WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES INVOLVED IN THIS BUSINESS?

Being a mobile makeup artist, transportation and the cost of travelling here and there is a major challenge. I do not have a car yet.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS?

In five years I see myself in my own beauty parlour providing services to people with comfort and inspiring others.

HAVE YOU DONE ANY MAJOR WORK THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS BE PROUD OF?

The major work I will always be proud of is that which got me to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. I was opportune to work on his face and he remarked how glad he felt that I was able to reduce the bags under his eyes. I was hired to work with the photographer who was documenting the VC’s four years in office.

DOES THE SCHOOL SUPPORT YOUR BUSINESS?

Yes! Tkoleoshohe school supports my business. At least there is a centre for Entrepreneurship which supports entrepreneurship and promotes it amongst the students.
