KATANGITES WASH THEIR WATER TANKS

Residents of the only living hall on Saturday all came out to wash their water thanks. This is in a bid to meke certain that water which gets to katangites is of best qaulity. It would be reclled that the tanks were washed last semester as well. This time, however, members of the red cross(as picture above) were invited by the health minister. Katangites have once again proved to be the only living hall, setting the pace in cleanliness

STUDENTS’ UNION WEEK COMMENCES TODAY
The largely-anticipated Students’ Union Week is expected to commence today, the 23rd of November. The seven-day event will include beauty pageants, a carnival, a sporting tournament and many more. The schedule for the event is on display all over campus, including in Indy Cafeteria.

FOOTBALL ATMOSPHERE SURROUNDS UI
The Inter-Hall Games have come and gone, as they do every two years. But the spirit of sports, especially football, is far from diminishing.
Almost everyone interested in the round-leather game can now be seen waking up early in the morning for practise. This is largely due to the numerous footballing competitions coming up next month, one of which is the Faculty Of Arts Dean’s Cup which commences on December 8.
REMINISCE, SOLID STAR, VECTOR ROCK UI AS AIRTEL PICKS BEST UI ARTISTS
Nigerian music superstars, Vector, Reminisce and Solid Star stormed UI this past week courtesy of Airtel.
Though all three didn’t come on the same day, their performances were still part of a single programme organised by the telecommunications giants. On Thursday, Vector was on course to open the show with some of his greatest hits while enthusiastic Uites gleefully sang along. Reminisce wrapped things up and got the fans giddy with his long-set-listed performance. Though lacking in any form of choreography whatsoever, the vocal performances of both rappers was a delight to the fans and proved satisfactory enough to keep them hooked on the lyrical genius of both artists .
The third performer, who didn’t exactly get this same dose of love as his predecessors, Solid Star, performed on Friday. He reportedly showed signs of ego which did not go down well with the audience as evidently shown when someone threw a sachet of water at him.
At the same event, UI rappers were called upon to perform. Much to their chagrin, they were given random beats as opposed to the fact that they had been earlier told to prepare their own beats. This had obvious effects on a lot of the rappers who complained. The sudden development was condemned by rappers like Biggy and Gad, the latter of whom was not too silent about it.

TRENCHARD HALL HOSTS SEAN TIZZLE, OWENG GEE, OTHERS
UI seemed like a tour arena last week as we witnessed the appearance of more entertainers on Friday. Afro-pop artist Sean Tizzle, comedians Peteru and Owen Gee among others put on a vibrant show that had the fans screaming with delight all through.
One of the major highlights was when Sean Tizzle gave out most of his clothing and the audience could be seen struggling to get ahold of the items. Another interesting part was when he cried tears of joy allegedly due to the fact that he had got almost no chance of performing while a student on this same campus. Owen Gee’s overall performance was criticised by many students, some of whom labelled it “boring and dull, except for his last joke”.
It was not an entirely pleasant atmosphere outside the hall. Students striving to get into the hall to witness the supposedly-free show were harassed and restricted to watching the projector outside, which also seemed to have a particular hobby of being static and mute.

HUNTERSOLA TO SOURCE FOR N9million for SU WEEK

The proposed budget for the SU week was received by many students with mixed reactions. Some believed it to be outrageous while others though it to be totaly irrational. It has come to our notice, however, that the Student Representative Council (SRC) has approved the sum of nine million naira for the SU week. That’s not all. According to the chairman of the finance committee of the S.R.C, the union didn’t have up to three million naira in their account and so the executive would have to source for the money outside.

NO MORE ‘KUTI, BELLO, ZIK’; NOW ‘KUTI, BELLO, ZIK, INDY’

According to a disclosure to Kantangites by Hon. Adeleke (a katangite and majority leader in the S.R.C), residents of Indy hall can now take cabs with the assurance of being dropped at the Independence hall bus-stop. Katangites have always been dropped at Zik bus-stop against their wish as Taxi drivers always avoided getting to Indy bus-stop. Katangites have been enjoined however, to insist on being taken to Indy bus-stop as measures have been put in place to ensure the compliance of Taxi drivers. Katangites are hereby enjoined to write down the plate number of any taxi driver who refuses to take them to Indy. These numbers should be given to representatives in the hall.
